Life is a series of transitions. As a doula, I strive to cultivate greater vibrancy, confidence, and heartfelt connections for people to optimize their experiences before, during and after birth. I honor all family dynamics, and I meet each client where they have a need.
Meet Your Doula

Amy believes care is crucial, and that birth, postpartum, and the unfolding of motherhood deserve to be experienced with reverence and strength.

Born and raised in Fort Myers, Amy began her adult life in the fast-paced worlds of fine dining and entertainment in Chicago, where she earned her B.A. in Arts, Entertainment & Media Management. But after nearly a decade in high-stakes hospitality, she had a quiet reckoning: “I’m a woman who serves. Who truly needs my service?”
After a decade of working in a variety of hospitality roles across the country, Amy found herself traveling to start over. In a small Northern California community, she was unexpectedly called into service, as she was asked by locals to care for elderly women at the end of their lives. What began as a way to rebuild became something more: a deeply personal introduction to caregiving that grounded her in a new kind of purpose. She quickly realized that the skills she once used to serve guests-- attunement, grace under pressure, and emotional intelligence, translated beautifully to caregiving. Sitting beside women in their final days, Amy learned how much can be communicated without words, and how quiet presence can be an act of love. That lesson still echoes in the way she holds space for new parents today.
Just a few years later, she became a mother herself. That shift into motherhood and into full-time devotion brought her full circle, returning home to Fort Myers after sixteen years away.
Amy founded The Sweet Surrender early 2019 after completing her training with a DONA-approved mentor—all while balancing the demands of solo motherhood. That early stretch of devotion continues to shape her work today: a lived understanding of what it means to show up when it's hard, and to do so with humility and strength.
She is now a seasoned birth and postpartum doula, and a trusted support to families across many different birth styles and needs. Her approach is attuned, judgment-free, and grounded. Whether she’s trying to distract a client with humor in early labor, troubleshooting breastfeeding challenges, preparing a meal, or simply listening, Amy offers a presence that helps even the most prepared families feel more grounded and supported.
She knows birth is never just about a baby, it’s about becoming. She shows up to walk beside those who are discovering, for the first or fifth time, what it means to mother in their own way.

For Mothers who need sleep
There is a reemerging narrative that motherhood should consume every part of a woman’s identity. But many women enter motherhood after years of building careers, businesses, expertise, and leadership in the world.
Loving your baby does not require abandoning the person you already are.
Many of Amy’s clients are women who are used to functioning at a high level. They may be physicians, entrepreneurs, executives, attorneys, creatives, or leaders in their fields. They are capable, thoughtful women who understand that sleep and outsourcing are part of sustaining a full life.
Amy’s role is not to redefine motherhood for you. It is to support the life you are already living while helping your family adjust to a new member.
With experienced overnight care, mothers can recover from birth, protect their mental clarity, and continue showing up in their lives both professionally and personally while knowing their baby is being cared for with skill and attentiveness.
Motherhood can expand your life without replacing it.
